Rented 12' open U-Haul trailer loaded with all mooring gear.  Pulled with F-350 passenger van.

At 10:15am on March 7, 2013, water depth was 52.5m.

Minor problem with comms upon deployment; difficulty establishing a connection.  Seems to have 'fixed' itself.

April 3, 2013--Mack's heater fails to respond.  Full current but no temperature increase.  Mission over.  Try to salvage some runs by running final filters as 'archives'...

April 7, 2013--Bruce started having sticky puck issuses, and on this day we lost comm's to the instrument.  MELO reports it's still in position, but there is no communication.  Mission ended.

 April 11, 2013--Recovered both instruments.  Returned to MBARI via flatbed.

April 18, 2013--Deployed D-ESP with CTD, ISMS, and Sediment trap.  First sample successfully fired on April 19. 

Dec 2, 2013--Fired off final sample.  Recover slated for Dec 11, 2013. Ran a total of 24 samples, each with an archive.

Dec 11, 2013--Successful recovery.  Sable never fired, and significant corrosion around ISMS intake, but overall looks very clean. (later learned old firmware in Sable never turned off GPS; batteries dead upon recovery; as of Jan 22, 2014, Xeos was sending USB dongle to reprogram the firmware...)

July 19, 2013--Recovered UBC ESP from Lummi (called ESPubc)

July 21--Deploy NOAA ESP at Lummi (called ESPFriday).  Lost comms to this machine on Aug 1.  Annie going to investigate.  Subsequent investigation found that modem card had been cancelled with T-Mobile due to NOAA miscommunication.  When new one was tried, operator did not know to 'close the door' on the modem in order to power the card.  Brent flew up and fixed.  Missed 4 days of sampling.

August 18--Lummi Bay deployment ended.  Machine returned to NOAA.

Samish Bay: 

July 16, 2013--Deploy MBARI ESP-Gordon at Samish bay @ Taylor Shellfish Farm.  No CTD.  Both machines have MFB and PCR.  Media event was July 18.

Aug 14--Recover Gordon

Aug 17--Deploy (swap) NEO.

Sep 10--processing syringe servo motor has failed.  Decision to run out remaining mission with archive only.

Sep 16--NEO's mission ends.  NOAA to recover and Roman/Kevan retrieved both machines Sep 25.

 September 10, 2013-- Deploy 2 ESP's in Monterey Bay.  First time in southern part of bay.

'North'
ESP-Mack.  Lat 36.9048, Long -121.93659, Water depth 32m, Can depth 9.8m.

Oct 11, 2013--Battery voltage dropped too low, and we had to end mission

'South'
ESP-Bruce. Lat 36.63908, Long -121.87884, Water depth 60m, Can depth 4.8m

Oct 10, 2013-Found 'terminal fluid retention' on processing side-pulled an oring or some type of leak. Tried porting waste to Waste2 (known to be empty), but same results. Final 3 samples to try and collect for SEM work.

October 21, 2013 -- Recovered both instruments
